Abstract:

Background and Objective: Although with population growth and life expectancy increase in the country ageing trend has been increased, urgency of paying attention to life quality and memory problems of elderly has not been considered. Several factors are involved in the life quality of the elderly. The main objective of this study is to show the relationship between memory self-efficacy and life expectancy with life quality of Esfahan elderly.
Method: In this correlational study 120 elderlies aged 60 to 70 years old was selected with convenience sampling from parks and mosques. The Leipad Quality of Life Questionnaire, the Memory Self-Efficacy Questionnaire (MSEQ), and the Snyder Hope Scale were conducted. Data was analyzed by pierson coefficient and multivariate regression.
Results: The results of the data analysis on the relationship between the variables of life quality, memory self-efficacy and life expectancy memory showed that there is a significant positive relationship between these variables in the elderly (r=0.29, r=0.40 p<0.01). Regression analysis also showed that the memory self- efficacy and life expectancy, could explain 13% of the variance in life quality.
Conclusion: If the elderly could use alternative ability of memory and acquiring memory self-efficacy can lead to more life quality.
