Abstract:

One Thousand and One Nights has been called the mother of the world stories. The presence of different ethnicities from different nations is so strong it cannot be denied. The book has served as a source of entertainment for many and a field for vast researches in a way that it has turned into one of the main sources for the study of the culture and the social and historical issues of the East. The book is more rooted in ancient Iranian mythology than in Arab myths. It presents a mixture of Iranian myth with stories from ancient India, Baghdad, Egypt etc. That makes the book a masterpiece that allows a thorough study of different cultural issues of the world and the East. The book provides a good ground for comparative studies. The present study tries to investigate the commonalities and the differences between the Iranian and the Egyptian stories of the book. The following starts with a brief look at the stories and the points they have in common or they don’t.
