THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE ATTACHMENT STYLE, SELF-CONCEPTION, AND LONELINESS AMONGHIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Abstract: 

Introduction: This research was aimed at surveying the relationship between attachment, selfconcept and loneliness in the secondary school students of Eastern Bandpey, Babol, Iran.
Methods: The study was descriptive and correlation in which 278 students (139 girls and 139 boys) participated by filling out Hazan and Shaver Interest Style Questionnaire, Rogers Self-Concept Scale and UCLA Loneliness Scale. The data were analyzed using the statistical technique of regression.
Results: The results showed that there was a meaningful relationship between attachment and feeling style, but there was no relationship between attachment style and self-conception. There was also a significant inverse relationship between self-conception and loneliness.
Conclusion: Attachment style was a stronger predictor of loneliness than self-conception.
