Abstract:

This research aims at investigating the effects of teaching Quranic stories on comprehending religious meta-cognition among the fifth grade students in elementary level. The reserah methodology is semi-experimental pre and posttest. The sample (n=80) was selected from all the fifth grade girl students. The stratified random sample was divided into two groups, namely experimental and control. The instrument of the research was a researcher- made questionnaire consisting of the triangular aspects of religious meta-cognition in opinions, creeds (Ahkam), and morality; the reliability was calculated using alpha Cronbach (0.81). The data was analyzed using SPSS and inferential statistics. The findings revealed that the average scores in posttests- opinions, creeds and morality- of experimental and control group were meaningfully different (p=0.00* 0.05). This delineates 95% sureness of teaching Quranic stories on the religious meta-cognition of the fifth grade students. Therefore, comprehending religious meta-cognition in the aspects of opinions, creeds, and morality can be better done through Quranic stories compared with direct and usual ways. In the end, some applied suggestions are presented.
