Abstract: 

A simple, ecient and one-pot method has been developed for the synthesis of densely functionalized aryl derivatives of 2-amino-3-cyano-7-hydroxy-4H-chromene by the domino Knoevenagel-Michael-cyclization reactions of aromatic aldehydes, resorcinol and malononitrile in the presence of a catalytic amount of Na2CO3 under grinding conditions.
