Abstract: 
The rate equations of a bistable laser diode with detuned frequency chirped optical input are modified. Based on the steady state characteristics of optical output can be switched and locked to the optical input wavelength in a relatively fast switching time by increasing optical input power. The effects of frequency chirping are brought into account which we mean mainly the effect of diminution of external modulator on the dynamic behavior of laser diode subjected to an optical input.
