Abstract: 

The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between dimensions of selfdetermined work motivation with job engagement. The participants of this study were 200 employees of Esfahan Steel Company (ESCO) (150 male; 50 female) that were selected by stratified random sampling. The instruments which used in this study were Blais Work Motivation Inventory (BWMI) and job engagement questionnaire. A correlation and multiple regression analysis was used to analyzing data. Results indicated that three dimensions of self-determined work motivation include intrinsic motivation, identified motivation and introjected motivation have positive correlation with job engagement and the other dimensions that were low in self-determination include external motivation, external amotivation and internal amotivation have negative correlation with employee's job engagement. Also, the result of multiple regression analysis indicated that the dimensions of self-determined work motivation have significant relationship with dimensions of job engagement. Therefore, high level of selfdetermined work motivation will lead to positive outcomes such as job engagement.
