Abstract:

Objective: The Purpose of this research was to determine the relationship between noise perception and vitality in administrative and industrial workers in Mobarakeh Steel Complex.
Method: For this case 55 workers of administrative section and 70 workers of industrial section were randomly selected. Thereafter, the Noise Quality Perception Inventory with five subscales (noise reduction benefits, noise reduction barriers, self-efficacy, attitude toward noise and susceptibility) and the Vitality Questionnaire were administrated to the subjects simultaneously.
Results: The results of this research indicate that in administrative workers, vitality is significantly related only to self-efficacy; and in industrial workers vitality is significantly related to noise reduction and self-efficacy (p<0.05).
Conclusion: The examination of theories and the comparison of the results of first and second hypotheses of this research along with the results of related research indicate the importance of the degree of noise in work place and its influence on vitality. By overshadowing sounds, noise destroys workers' concentration and decreases their vitality and awareness, leading to a decline in productivity. Hearing protection devices can be used to decrease the degree of annoyance resulted from noise and create the feeling of vitality which is a special kind of psychological experience.
