Abstract: 

Stator fault diagnostic may be done in different ways. But spectral analysis of line current flowed from motor-obtained from sensors which are placed for control and protection purposes-is the most effective real-time error detection method. Magnetic equivalent circuit method is one of the accurately methods for squirrel cage induction motor modeling under healthy and faulty case. This paper used the simulation results obtained from MEC modeling for fault detection such as turn-to-turn, Coil-to-Coil and phase-to-phase. Current and torque harmonic spectrum are used for fault diagnosis. The results of simulation and laboratory analysis showed the stator current spectrum is good criteria for determining the type and severity of faults in induction motors. Results of simulation and experimental tests performed on3 hp induction motor confirm the proposed method for stator fault diagnosis.
