Abstract: 

Accurate transient/dynamic stability studies and power system controllers' adjustment entails precise modeling of synchronous generators as main generators in power systems and the parameter estimation of its model. About the modeling process, Park two axes model has been accepted and referenced for synchronous machine. About the identification process, Stand Still Frequency Response (SSFR)tests results documented as IEEE Std. are used. However there are some challenges in these areas, attracted many researchers for long years. One of challenges is presentation a precise and efficient identification method. In this paper Vector Fitting (VF) method is employed in parameter estimation of synchronous machines the first and its accuracy and efficiency in comparison with genetic algorithm, pattern search and nonlinear least square methods are evaluated.
