Abstract:
Background: Recent studies have shown that KIT is expressed in the cytoplasm of the spermatogonia, acrosomal granules and leydig cells. Reduction in KIT expression in oligozoospermia with an increase in the germ cell apoptosis process. Three single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) have been identified and these have been studied to discover KIT role in the male infertility.
The aim of this study was evaluation single-nucleotide polymorphism SNP rs3819392 located within the genomic region of the KIT.
Materials and Methods: We have studied one singlenucleotide polymorphism SNP rs3819392 located within the genomic region of the KIT. We carried out a genetic association study to provide the role of the KIT gene in male infertility. These have been studied in 100 normal male cases and 100 azoospermia male. PCR and RFLP techniques were used for this study of the polymorphism.
Results: Our results showed a positive correlation between SNP rs3819392 of KIT 1101 G>A and male infertility (p= 0.032).
Conclusion: Our data revealed the KIT may play an important role in male infertility and thus KIT 1101 G>A can be one of the genetical risk factor for the male azoospermic infertility.
