A SURVEY ON THE EFFECT OF DETRAINING ON ELITE NATIONAL TEAM WEIGHTLIFTERS PERFORMANCE AND BODY COMPOSITION

Abstract: 
The aim of the study was to survey the effect of two weeks of detraining on weightlifters performance,a.ntropometriccharacteristicsand body composition. In this study 12 male elite team weightlifterswere evaluateda weekbefore and after detraining. They participated in pre and post tests related to perfomance,total body wieght, % Body fat, LBM,abdominal,buttock and shoulder circumferences. The results are as following:The averagers records significantlydecreased in snatch (201±38.89 - 189±38.08), lift & jerk (226.67±45.39 - 215±38.67), back squat (171.88±30 - 162±29.34), front squat (150±29.31 - 141.45±24.64), power snach (122.71±23.63 - 116.04±22.7 and power lift (139.17±25.964 - 130±22.44). Values of subjects LBM decreased after detraining (78.73±18.57 - 78.04±17.94), but body fat percentage increased (8.17±4.61-9.09±5.02). Values related to shoulder and buttoclk circumferences respectively (124.28±11.84-113±37.24), (103.58±11.37 - 102.07±1O.80) decreased whereas the results of abodominal circumference tests were shown.This Variable in comparisonto before variablesincreased.We conclude that decreasing of LBM and increasing of %Fat and also negative changes in shoulder & buttocks circumferences and increasing of abdominal circ. were associated with negative effect on performance. Therefore we can use from these indices to prediction athletic performance changes.
