Abstract: 

The present work examines the mechanism of neck formation and growth. The aim is to establish a better understanding of the thermo-mechanism of neck formation and growth in the electrical discharge compaction process for powdered metals. The results of SEM for neck formation high-speed photography as well as micro hardness measurements and an experimental survey of distribution of necks and density distribution across sections of different green products are presented.
