Abstract:

Introduction: Candidial Vulvovaginitis is an important disease in pregnant women, diabetic patients and in antibiotics and contraceptives users. These patients usually develope resistance against drugs.
Objectives: The aim of the current study was to finding out the most effective medication among Clotrimazole, Ketoconazole and Fluconazole using antifungal sensitivity tests on patients before exposing to relapsing candidiasis.
Material & methods: 31 patients suspected to Vulvovaginitis were selected. 10 out of 31 were found to be infected with candida albicans using microdilution broth method with RPMI 1640 medium.  IC50, MIC90 and MFC were measured at 37
°C and PH7.2.
Results: The results showed that MIC50, MIC90 and MFC for Ketoconazole were 0.25 -1, 1-4, 64 -2:512
mg/ml , for Fluconazole 0.25 -1, 1-4, 256-³1024 mg/ml and for Clotrimazole 0.125, 1-8, 128-512 mg/ml respectively.
Conclusion: It can be concluded that Clotrimazole has better effect in treatment of candida albicans when compared to two other drugs.
