Abstract: 

To evaluate a site for flood spreading, it is necessary to have a number of parameters such as topographic gradient, hydrulic conductivity of the aquifer, electrical conductents of recharging water as well as lithology.
These parameters were not available for the Ali Abad Damagh – Dehno area. Therefore, anger holes were dug, double rings infiltration tests were performed and pumping tests were undertaken.
From these measurements, transmissivity of the aquifer has been estimated at 1165 m2/day, which is quite satisfactory for this purpose. The infiltration rate of 5.7 cm/hr, topographic gradient of 2.42% and alluvium thickness of 25 – 60 m are all suitable for flood spreading. The electrical conductivits of the recharging water is 800 mmohs/cm and will cause no problem in terms of quality.
In spitc of all the satisfactory parameters mentioned above, thin layers of clay and silt in the area counter – productive and will cause substantial reduction of the infiltration rate.
