Abstract: 

For an identification of microsatellite markers linked to Fusarium head blight (FIID) resistance in wheat, F3:4 and F3:5 populations developed from a cross between 'Falat'

(susceptible) and 'Frontana' (moderately resistant) were evaluated at the experimental field under artificial inoculation for a duration of two years. Disease development was assessed by area under the disease progress curve (AUDPC). The results of phenotyping analyses revealed that the parents and developed mapping populations had significant differences for FHB resistance. The clearest segregation for resistance was observed on 22nd and 26nd day after the initial infection. The different distributions of the AUDPC values showed that FHB resistance was a quantitative trait. The results of molecular analyses using 170 microsatellite markers indicated that a genomic interval on 7AS chromosome explained up to 18.2% of the phenotypic variation for AUDPC (with negative effects).
