REGIONAL ANALYSIS OF SEDIMENT YIELD IN THE PART OF CASPIAN SEA COASTAL BASINS

Abstract: 

Regional analysis is one of the reliable methods for estimating of sediment in ungage watershed. In this study, all stations which are existing in given basin were considered with attention to long period and minimum human activities, 23 sediment measurement stations were selected and sediment rating curve was estimated by using two methods of S shaped curve and regression for each station. Average annual and specific sediment was estimated by using daily discharge, sediment-rating curve and computer program Rosoob 1 & 2.Too 11, 1 and 2 physiographical, climatical and hydrological parameters were determined for the selected watersheds. Independent variables were selected by using factor analysis. By using factor analysis; Gravialus coefficient, diameter of circle with the same area of the watershed, average slope and max instantaneous discharge with return periods of 2 years were selected which clarified 81 percent variance. Cluster analysis method was used for determination of homogenous area. Two areas were found as homogenous areas, which were found to be completely distinguishable from each other with the help of discrimination analysis method. The average annual and specific sediment were determined by using both the methods of regression and S-shaped curve and four factors, Gravilues coefficient, diameter of circle with the same area of the watershed, average slope watershed and max instantaneous discharge with return period of two years were applied for modeling through stepwise regressions and the regression coefficient was found to be very high in the level of 5 percent. Finally, validation models were considered. According to average annual sediment models by using S shape curve in every two homogenous area were selected with having 32 and 38 mean relative error percent as final models to study area and similar area.
