Abstract:

This paper presents initial findings of a series of unstructured interviews with the Zoroastrian Community to identify the spatial structure of the ancient Iranian dwellings. The Zoroastrian domestic lifestyle within the dwelling is examined through an analysis of the memories of a purposive sample. The interviewees are selected from (i) Zoroastrians devoted to their ancient traditions; and (ii) those accepted as successful respected personalities in the current Muslim society. The memories of a day spent in the traditional house are told by the interviewee as a young male family member. The stories are then coded as episodes of life in the traditional house.
