Abstract: 
FREQUENCY RESPONSE ANALYSIS (FRA) METHODPROVED TO BE VERY USEFUL IN DETECTING THE MECHANICALDEFORMATIONS INSIDE A POWER TRANSFORMER. SEVERAL CONFIGURATIONSARE POSSIBLE FOR FRA METHOD AND IT IS BETTER TO USE THE ONE WITHTHE BEST SENSITIVITY TO MECHANICAL CHANGES. IN THIS PAPER, THEEFFECT OF TERMINATING RESISTORS ON THE FRA TRACES IS STUDIED INORDER TO FIND THE MOST SENSITIVE ONES. THE SENSITIVITY TO DISC SPACEVARIATION, WHICH IS A COMMON MECHANICAL DEFECT, IS STUDIEDPARTICULARLY. FOUR USUAL CONNECTION METHODS ARE USED WITH 12DIFFERENT RESISTOR PAIRS IN AN EXPERIMENTAL SETUP. IN ORDER TOPERFORM THE SENSITIVITY ANALYSIS, THREE NUMERICAL INDICES AREEMPLOYED. THE RESULTS AND GENERAL CONCLUSIONS ARE PROVIDEDREGARDING THE USE OF TERMINATING RESISTORS, BUT MORE RESEARCHNEED TO BE CONDUCTED FOR OTHER TYPICAL MECHANICAL VARIATIONS INPOWER TRANSFORMERS.
