Abstract:

This paper discusses the etymology of the word sarāpāy, as used in the meaning of "creation" in the Shahnameh and other old Persian texts. Also, the Writer explores another meaning of the word used with the two verbs "kardan" and "gardidan", of which no mention is made in the Persian dictionaries. Finally, the writer examines the word "sārāfon", borrowed from Russian, which the writer argues is a modified form of the word sarāpāy.
