STUDY OF AMINO ACIDS PROFILE IN PERSIAN STURGEON LARVAE (ACIPENSER PERSICUS) FED WITH LIVE ARTEMIA AND DAPHNIA

Abstract: 
The aim of this study was comparison of essential amino acids in Persian sturgeon larvae fed with Artemia and daphnia. The larvae were obtained from artificial propagation of one female (26.3kg) and one male (19kg) and transferred to three culture tanks. The water temperature was kept at 17-18oC, pH at 8 and oxygen saturation at 5.5-7mg/1 during the culture period. After yolk sac absorption (9-10 days post hatching (dph)), fish larvae were fed with Artemia urmiana until day 14 and then fed with Daphnia sp. up to day 40, according to standard hatchery procedures. Sampling was conducted at 14 and 40 dph. Results showed Arginine, Leucine and Methionine were the highest and Histidine was the lowest (0.9%) among indispensable amino acid (IAA) profiles in Persian sturgeon larvae. While Methionine and Arginine had the highest value in Artemia and Daphnia, Histidine (0.79%) and Phenylalanine (0.8%) were the lowest in Artemia and Daphnia, respectively. The comparison between amino acid profiles in larvae and live foods showed Phenylalanine IAA was the limiting amino acid at day 14 (-65.5%) and day 40 (-73.4%) post hatching. Hence, we recommend the addition of this compound to Persian sturgeon larvae diets.
