Abstract:

The present research investigates the relationship between different types of parenting and the emotional atmosphere of the family, and the children's creativity in the nursery schools for children under 6 years of age in Tabriz during the academic year 1387-88. The research population consists of 320 children including 156 boys and 164 girls. The samples were taken by multi-stage random sampling. The data were collected, using Bamerind's questionnaire of parenting types and Torrance's questionnaire of child-parent relationship and children's creativity. The data analysis was carried out through the use of Pearson's Correlation Coefficient, independent T-test, and Stepwise Regression. The results indicated that there is not a significant relationship between permissive and authoritarian types of parenting and children's creativity. There is a significant positive relationship between parents' logical authority and children's creativity. Also, there is a meaningful positive relationship between the emotional atmosphere of the family and children's creativity. According to the independent T-test, there is not a meaningful difference between girls and boys regarding genuineness dimension of creativity. The fluency dimension and the extension dimension of creativity are higher in girls than in boys. In addition, logical authority is the strongest variable in predicting and determining children's creativity. The research data indicate the importance of the different types of parenting and the emotional atmosphere of the family in children's creativity.
