TERTIARY-QUATERNARY MAGMATISM IN DEHAJ AREA

Abstract: 

The studying area is located in southern part of Anar, northwest of Kerman. General characteristics of the area are somewhat similar to the characteristics of Arumieh-Dokhtar magmatic arc. The only exposed rocks in the area are volcanic to sub-volcanic rocks; and small to medium size plutonics
According to thin section studies; rocks of the area are divided into the following groups;
a) Andesite and quartzandesites
b) Dacites and Riodacites
c) basaltic rocksand plutonics such as dikes and stocks
d) acidic to intermediate subvolcanic rocks
5 magmatic phases has occurred in the area during tertiary;
1) Eocene phase; which starts with Basaltic- andesitic activities
2) Eocene-Cligocene magmatic phase which has dominant acidic composition
3) Sub volcanic phase with dioritic to tonalitic composition
4) Mio-pliocene volcanic to sub volcanic magmatic phase which is the most important phase in the area
5) Plio-quaterner volcanic to sub volcanic phase
According to the diagrams, magmatic racks of the area are placed in the calc alkaline series. In the geodynamic environment diagrams, the racks of the area are placed in active continental margins. Geochemical evidences show that magmatic rocks in the area have similar characteristic and have been formed in a subduction environment, which is comparable with the magmatism in Arumieh-Dokhtar magmatic arc.
